The Intelligence of Plants and Other Living Organisms Fri., Nov. 21 - 7:15pm - AUD, KOTV Roger Hangarter, retired professor of biology at Indiana University, will describe experiments that demonstrate plant responses to internal and external stimuli, examine plant behaviors and communications, and discuss the question of whether plants are in some sense intelligent. He has produced works at the intersection of plant biology and visual art. His exhibit Slow Life opened at the U.S. Botanic Garden in 2005, then toured the U.S. over the next ten years. He and his students also produced a video series lants in Motion that has been used in classrooms nationwide, demonstrating that plants are active, responsive organisms. Other information might include areas of his research in plant biology: tropisms; light-induced chloroplast movements; chloroplast  development.

His website has a lot of information about the various exhibits he's done, ncluding the most recent, Forest 2025.
